Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship

​The Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship Program at the VA San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS) and the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) is a one-year, ACGME accredited PGY-V fellowship intended for psychiatrists who wish to pursue advanced training in the mental healthcare of older adults with psychiatric and neurodegenerative illnesses and the science and policy of aging in an interprofessional setting.

The program also supports and encourages fellows in research and scholarly activity. Fellows are eligible for ABPN Board Certification in Geriatric Psychiatry upon graduation.

Prerequisites:

Applicants must successfully complete an ACGME accredited general psychiatry residency prior to matriculation.

Applicants must be eligible for licensure by State of California and hold a valid California Medical License by July 1 of their fellowship year.

How To Apply:

To apply, candidates are required to submit:

  • CV
  • A one-page personal statement
  • Three letters of recommendation (one of which must be from their Program Director). *Letters of recommendation should be submitted directly to the our program
  • Completed UCSD Post-Graduate Medical Training Application
  • Copy of medical school transcript
