General Surgery Residency

The Department of Surgery at University of Tennessee Health Science Center is a five-year ACGME-accredited Surgery Residency Program located in Memphis, TN. Our residents learn and care for patients at affiliated hospitals which include large academic hospitals, a regional trauma center, a freestanding children’s hospital and smaller community-based hospitals. The services at each hospital range from large multidisciplinary teams to individual residents with specific surgical attendings. We provide ample educational opportunities for a resident who wants to learn in diverse settings and treat diverse populations. The UTHSC Surgery Residency will have two (2) openings in the categorical general surgery training program at the PGY – 3 level to start July 1, 2021.

10. Current ATLS, BLS, ACLS certifications. Foreign Medical Graduates must have a valid ECFMG certificate.

Prior to any final decision to offer a position, a letter from the current Program Director showing good academic standing will be required.
