Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Research Fellowship

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Research Fellowship

The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is looking for 2-3 research fellows starting June 2020.

A one-year commitment is required but two years is preferred. Funding is in the form of a stipend for housing and living expenses.

The goals and objectives for the research fellowship are for fellows to gain experience in both clinical and basic science research. The principal investigator will be Samuel J. Lin, MD, MBA, with potential to work with other faculty. Primary research projects consist of surgical outcomes using institutional and national databases, cost and utility studies, as well as translational/basic science projects in the form of silk implants and noninvasive technologies to assess tissue perfusion. Research fellows are expected to work on between 10-20 projects/year.

Outside of their research duties, research fellows are also expected to attend weekly plastic surgery conferences and lab meetings, with heavy encouragement to attend local, national, and international meetings. These meetings will be funded.
