General Surgery Residency - Categorical Position

The University of Hawaii General Surgery Residency Program, located in Honolulu, HI, has an opening for a categorical PGY-3 General Surgery resident to begin July 1, 2023. Please note, we are only able to sponsor J-1 visas at this time.

Prerequisites:

Applicant must have successfully completed a PGY-1 and PGY-2 in General Surgery and be a current resident in good standing in an ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency program.

  1. ERAS Application (if available);
  2. Curriculum Vitae (must be in chronological order with no unexplained gaps since medical school);
  3. Brief personal statement;
  4. Medical School Diploma;
  5. Medical School Transcript;
  6. MSPE;
  7. USMLE Step 1-3 Scores - All Steps must be passed on the first attempt (minimum score 230 on Steps 1-2);
  8. All ABSITE Scores;
  9. Three Letters of Recommendation - including 1 from current Program Director;
  10. Summative Competency Based Evaluation;
  11. Milestone evaluation from current program;
  12. Current Experience by Role report and General Surgery Defined Category and Minimum report;
  13. Detailed list of previously completed rotations (all training years);
  14. ECFMG certificate, if applicable.
