Surgical Oncology Research Fellowship

Funded position available for the Surgical Oncology Research Fellowship at the National Center for Functional Glycomics at Harvard Medical School. Based out of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA.

Training program has been providing surgical residents experience in translational research and cancer biology for over 6 years.

Robust curriculum includes weekly journal club meetings, small group sessions for personalized mentorship and weekly work in progress meetings. Support to present at National Meetings.

General surgery residents interested in a career in Surgical Oncology, Colorectal Surgery, Breast Oncologic Surgery or Endocrine Surgery encouraged to apply. The goal of our program is to provide surgical trainees the opportunity to develop their skills in basic science and translational research.

The program includes mentored translational research experience with the opportunity to interact with clinical faculty and support from post-doctoral fellows for guidance through projects. Under the mentorship of Dr. Richard Cummings, Vice-Chair of Basic and Translational Research at the Department of Surgery – BIDMC and Director of the National Center for Functional Glycomics.

Prerequisites:

Candidates must be surgical trainees in an ACGME surgical training program. Trainees are expected to be committed to full-time basic/translational research training (40 hours/week)

• 1 or 2-year commitment
• Starting by July 2023
• M.D. and/ Ph.D.
