Description Tufts Medical Center is offering a newly approved position in the 5-2 Thoracic Surgery Residency starting at the PGY 6 position. This position is the result of a newly approved expanded residency for Tufts Medical Center. The residency is a two-year ACGME accredited cardiothoracic surgery residency program leading to board certification by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS). Start date is August 1, 2022. Graduation is July 30, 2024.
Cardiac or thoracic surgery track or undifferentiated track applicants are welcome. This program includes training in preoperative, operative and postoperative care. The residency is geared to producing academic thoracic or cardiac surgeons. The residency is free of all citations from the ACGME, and all recent graduates have obtained academic positions. Academic guidance in the operating rooms, ambulatory area, teaching conferences and research facilities is provided by attending surgeons, all of whom hold full-time teaching appointments at Tufts University School of Medicine. All surgeons in both the Division of Cardiac Surgery and Division of Thoracic surgery are invested operative teachers and take residents through procedures if appropriate. The Faculty pride themselves on being educators and mentors who seek to produce leaders in the field. The program is flexible and training of residents can easily be geared to the trainee's interest.
Applicants must have completed their training in either general surgery or vascular surgery and be Board eligible for American Board of Surgery (ABS) or the American Board of Vascular Surgery by August 1, 2022.
