Pediatrics Chief Residency Position

The UNLV School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Chief Resident for the academic year July 2020-June 2021. This is an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of our dynamic pediatric training program and to be a junior faculty member in the department. There are currently 39 pediatrics residents in our program and two fourth year chief residents.

In collaboration with the other chief resident, duties will consist of mentoring pediatrics residents and medical students, coordinating educational activities for the pediatrics residents, organizing and tracking the educational curriculum, developing curricula and board review sessions, and supervising pediatrics residents in simulation, ambulatory and newborn care.

The chief residents are key members of the program leadership team. Further, as a junior faculty member, the chief serves an important role in departmental administrative meetings including the program evaluation committee and other education/hospital based committees, and is provided the opportunity to maintain and further refine clinical skills as a part-time attending (up to 0.4 FTE). It is also anticipated that the chief resident will have the opportunity to pursue scholarship and/or research if desired.

Prerequisites:

Candidates should have a strong academic record as well as exceptional interpersonal, clinical and leadership sills. They must have a commitment to teaching and a sincere desire to be chief resident. Candidates must have completed a three-year residency in pediatrics by the start date - July 1, 2020.
