Clinical responsibilities include managing burn ICU patients, assisting in the O.R., staffing burn, plastics, and hand clinics, covering the emergency department, and teaching residents and medical students. Research is encouraged. The burn service functions under the auspices of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. As such, fellows are afforded ample experience with wound closure techniques, synthetic skin substitute application, and hand surgery.
Completion of no less than PGY 1 and PGY 2 in an ACGME approved general surgery program is a minimal prerequisite for consideration. Board eligibility is highly desirable. VISA sponsorship is available.
