The Department of Surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical School-Baystate in Springfield, MA is looking for a surgery research resident to fill a position beginning July 1, 2020. This is a funded and mentored two-year training position in translational and clinical outcomes research working with faculty in the Department of Surgery. Trainees are expected to be inquisitive and motivated individuals committed to full-time research during the two years. There will be some clinical call responsibility (1-2 per month).
Previous research residents have gone on to successfully match in competitive fellowships such as Pediatric Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Colorectal Surgery.
The successful candidate will have completed two years of surgical residency training by June 30, 2020, be in good standing in an ACGME-approved general surgery residency program, and eligible for a medical license in Massachusetts. The opportunity exists to pursue either an MPH or MS in epidemiology during this time if the candidate is interested.
