Renal Transplant Fellowship

Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville, Florida, is a leading center for kidney and pancreas transplantation, performing more than 200+ kidney transplants annually. Emphasis is placed on overcoming barriers to transplantation while optimizing patient and allograft survival.

Active clinical programs in the transplant center include:

  • Living-donor and deceased-donor kidney transplantation
  • Pancreas transplantation
  • HIV positive transplantation
  • Paired kidney donor program

Mayo Clinic's Kidney-Pancreas Transplant Program involves a multidisciplinary team consisting of transplant nephrologists, transplant surgeons, mid-level providers, and other allied health professionals, in addition to general nephrology fellowship trainees. The renal transplant fellow is an integral part of this team.

Prerequisites:

Applicants for the Renal Transplant Fellowship must have ABIM certification (or equivalent; such as MRCP or FRCPC) in addition to having completed a fellowship in general nephrology (either in the USA or abroad).

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or foreign nationals who have or qualify for appropriate visa sponsorship.

Admission requirements

  • J-1 visa sponsorship is unavailable.
  • To enable recruitment that fits Mayo’s strategic priorities.
  • H-1B eligibility requirements include:
    • Successful completion of USMLE Steps 1, 2CK, 2CS, and 3 before the application is reviewed for appointment.
    • Eligibility for state medical licensure (Florida).
    • Program completion within six-year H1-B time limit.
    • A valid ECFMG certificate is required if you graduated from a medical school outside the U.S. or Canada before the application is reviewed for appointment.
