The Department of Surgery at the University at Buffalo invites applications for a 1- or 2-year mentored research training program designed for academically-oriented MDs interested in clinical outcomes and health services research in the fields of bariatric and/or minimally invasive surgery.
This opportunity focuses on combining outcomes research experience and rigorous graduate level didactic training to produce well-trained clinical outcomes and health services researchers with an exposure to 4 core areas central to health services and outcomes research (registry dataset analysis, patient-centered outcomes, healthcare policy, and clinical research development). The fellows will have an opportunity to complete a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) or other advanced research degree (e.g., Master's in Science (MS) in Biomedical Informatics). In addition, fellows will be involved with a variety of research projects under the mentorship of Dr. Aaron Hoffman, MD and Katia Noyes, PhD, MPH. Funding for this fellowship is made possible by the Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program (ECRIP) and includes a stipend commensurate with the NIH postdoctoral rate, tuition, fees for coursework, travel funds, and health insurance.
The start date is flexible, but must begin by September 1, 2022.
Applicants should submit a current CV and a letter of interest to Dr. Katia Noyes, PhD, MPH. Email to Rebecca Kranz at rlkran[email protected] with subject "ECRIP Surgical Research Fellowship."
