General Surgery Residency - Preliminary Position

General Surgery Residency - Preliminary Position

The University of Florida College of Medicine Jacksonville is an academic, safety net hospital and runs the region's only Level I American College of Surgeons Trauma Center. Our mission is to provide a learner-focused, inclusive program that uses a combination of operative experiences, simulation and didactics to facilitate resident graduated responsibility and autonomy toward surgical excellence.

Typical PGY2 rotations include transplant, SICU, cardiac surgery, breast, emergency surgery, elective general surgery, and trauma. During this year, a PGY2 preliminary resident at our institution would participate in the same clinical rotations and educational sessions as categorical residents.

Our goal would be to help our resident find a categorical residency spot by the end of their year with us.

Jacksonville, Florida is a beautiful place to live, with white sandy beaches, unspoiled nature, thriving restaurants and nightlife, and is also a safe community for families.
