Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship

Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship

The George Washington University's Department of Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine is pleased to offer a fellowship in obstetric anesthesia for a Summer 2023 start date. This unique offering in the nation's capital is an unaccredited, obstetric anesthesia fellow and junior faculty hybrid position that will split 70:30 (fellow:faculty) with commensurate experience, pay and benefits. The curriculum will follow the ACGME-accredited fellowship requirements, and afford dedicated administrative time for teaching and research in the subspecialty.

Rotations will include teaching service rotations on the Labor and Delivery Unit of the George Washington University Hospital. In addition, fellows will rotate with our Maternal Fetal Medicine service in clinic and they will have the opportunity to rotate in the top-ranked Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children's National Hospital, Washington, DC. Elective offerings will include research, blood bank, global health or health policy. Overall, fellows will participate in fellowship-focused rotations for 7 months and they will work as a junior faculty member for 4 months with pro-rated call responsibilities. Moonlighting opportunities will be available (pending Director approval) as long as they do not interfere with fellowship training obligations.
