Wound Care Research Fellowship Position

The NYU Winthrop Hospital, Division of Wound Care would like to invite qualified individuals to apply for a funded 2-year research fellowship position in the Department of Surgery, under the direction of Dr. Scott Gorenstein. This position will start July of 2020.

The research fellow will work closely with wound surgeons to organize and direct all research efforts of the Wound Care division within the Department of Surgery. The fellow will also be trained in the development and coordination of clinical trials, preparation and submission of NIH grant and manuscripts for peer-review publication. Ample opportunities exist to collaborate with residents and faculty within the department as well as from other departments and academic institutions, including NYU Langone Health.

The fellow will also be supported and encouraged to submit abstracts for presentation at national meetings. Recent fellows have published in journals such as JACS, Advances in Skin & Wound Care, and JSLS.

Besides a full-time salary and health benefits, the position offers a unique supportive environment with ample resources including a data coordinator, research scientist, biostatistician support, surgical residents, and volunteers interested in medical careers who will assist research efforts at the direction of the research fellow and PI. NYU Winthrop Hospital is located in Mineola, NY and fellows will have access to both the NYU Winthrop and NYU Langone medical libraries.

Prerequisites:

Qualified candidates will have completed at least one year of surgical residency with an academic interest. Prior research experience is preferred, but not required. Visas are not supported at this time.
