East Tennessee State University global surgery SEAL fellowship East Tennessee State Quillen College of Medicine was founded to increase access to care for rural Appalachia. ETSU understands that access to care is the biggest determinant of health outcomes. In that same paradigm ETSU has collaborated with Health Equity International to create the Surgical, Education, Access to care and Leadership (SEAL) global surgery fellowship. It is based on the same military paradigm of the Navy SEALs, cross training makes you a more effective, agile team. The SEAL fellowship is a one-year clinical fellowship based at St Boniface hospital in Haiti.

You will be working with an experience Haitian staff lead by Dr Padovani chief of surgery at St Boniface. St Boniface is a rural teaching hospital which has a 120 inpatient bed capacity and performs over 1400 surgical cases a year. Haitian Surgical residents and medical students rotate at St Boniface Hospital. As a SEAL fellow you will be a staff surgeon responsible for covering clinical duties at the hospital including Emergence room, clinic, surgery, ward rounds as well a teaching residents and medical students. The General surgery practice at St Boniface covers all aspects surgery from pediatric to plastics to thoracic to general surgery. All applicants must be willing to learn or be fluent in French. We are looking for board eligible or board-certified general surgeons.
