Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship Position

The University of Maryland Medical Center and the School of Medicine is pleased to announce we have a spot open in a 12-month, ACGME neurophysiology/EEG fellowship starting July 2020 with options to extend training beyond the 2020-2021 one year position to add an additional ACGME accredited year if desired.

The program is based in our busy Maryland Epilepsy Center (NAEC Level IV) and includes training in a epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) at the University of Maryland Medical Center and a ICU continuous EEG monitoring program based in a 22-bed Neurointensive care unit as well as in other sites in the Medical Center. There is flexibility in the program to develop elective and research time to fit the trainees interests and career goals.

The fellowship program also includes training in medical management of seizures, routine EEG, epilepsy surgery evaluation and surgical treatment (including resection, VNS and RNS), brain mapping, functional epilepsy testing, LITT and neuroimaging. We also offer opportunities for clinical epilepsy research. We are also excited to announce that Alexander Ksendzovsky, MD PhD will be joining from Yale as a second neurosurgeon in August 2020 and will bring with him plans for development of an SEEG program.

Faculty of the program currently include: Jennifer Hopp MD (Epilepsy Division Director), Peter Crino MD PhD (Chairman, Department of Neurology), Camilo Gutierrez MD (Vice Chair, Education), Jennifer Pritchard MD (Director, cEEG Program), and Stephanie Chen MD. Two additional faculty, Megan Margiotta MD and Tasleema Khan MD are also joining the faculty this fall.

Training and call is shared with two other fellows. Pay and benefits are commensurate with the ACGME accredited positions based on PGY-level at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Prerequisites:

Applicants should have completed an ACGME-approved residency in Neurology. Consideration will be given for candidates who completed non-ACGME Neurology residency. Additional requirements can be discussed upon contact.
