Independent Clinical Fellowship in Interventional Neurology

South Shore University Hospital offers a two-year United Council for Neurological Specialties (UCNS)-accredited fellowship in interventional neurology. One fellow is accepted into the program per year, and it is open to applicants with backgrounds in neurology, neurosurgery and radiology.

Fellows will receive extensive training and achieve proficiency in the knowledge, cognitive and technical skills, and surgical techniques required to optimally manage a multitude of cerebrovascular disorders. South Shore University Hospital treats more than 1,000 stroke patients and performs more than 500 neurointerventional procedures annually, covering an extensive range of pathologies.

Prerequisites:

All fellows must:

  • Possess a current valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States or its territories or Canada.
  • Be a graduate of a residency program in neurology who completed a one-year vascular neurology program or a two-year neurocritical care fellowship, neurosurgery, or radiology who have completed a one-year neuroradiology fellowship accredited by the ACGME, UCNS, RCPSC, or CanERA.
  • Be board-certified or eligible for certification by the ABMS, RCPSC, AOA or CFPC in neurology, neurosurgery or neuroradiology.
