The University of Florida is accepting applications for a Cardiovascular Hospitalist Apprentice.
This non-ACGME accredited training program is designed to offer candidates experience in the management of critical care and perioperative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients. The educational curriculum is designed to augment the wide breadth of clinical experiences within the division. All candidates are integrated into UF/Shands adult cardiac and thoracic rotations. Weekly educational session include didactic conferences as well as attending rounds, mortality and morbidity, grand rounds, aortic conference and ICU quality improvement conferences provide a structured education.
Through participation in clinical conferences, (including multidisciplinary thoracic oncology conference, heart and lung transplant listing conferences, and multidisciplinary cardiac surgery conference), there is regular interaction with collaborative teams responsible for the care of very complex cardiac and thoracic patients. Upon completion candidates will have gained intensive experience in teamwork, performance and quality improvement, patient safety, leadership, ethics, ACLS, endotracheal intubation, central lines, chest tube placement, arterial lines, thoracentesis, critical care, surgical first assist, emergency bedside procedures, etc. Operative exposure in adult cardiac, thoracic, transplant and complex aortic surgery is offered based upon experience level.
This is a 1-year apprenticeship with an optional renewable 2nd year. Visa sponsorship is NOT available for this position.
Candidates must be eligible for house physician license in FL or current unrestricted medical license and must have a minimum of one year of ACGME clinical training in Medicine/Surgery/Transplant in a single institution.
