Maternal Child and Reproductive Health Fellowship

The two-year MCH fellowship was initiated in 2003 to train family medicine leaders for rural or academic practice settings. The fellowship is offered in collaboration with the UNM OB/Gyn and Pediatrics Departments and includes advanced clinical training in maternity and newborn care.

As a fellowship graduate, you will be skilled in:

  • Care of complicated obstetric patients
  • Cesarean delivery
  • First trimester obstetrical ultrasound
  • Medical and surgical abortion care (if desired)
  • Newborn resuscitation and stabilization
  • Operative vaginal delivery
  • Postpartum tubal ligation

All fellows will receive a certificate in public health based on coursework and can take courses towards a Master of Public Health certificate following the completion of MCH fellowship.
