The Department of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Neurology is seeking an MD/PhD or PhD for a post-doctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Hiroki Nariai. Applicants need to have expertise in the fields of neuroscience, computer science, translational health sciences or a related field.
The laboratory of Dr. Hiroki Nariai focuses on the mechanisms and treatment of pediatric epilepsy. Specifically, his research work investigates neurophysiological biomarkers of epilepsy recorded via invasive and non-invasive electroencephalogram (EEG) recording, using computational and machine learning approaches.
The ultimate goal is to identify neurobiological surrogates of epileptic brains and utilize them in the diagnosis and treatment of children with epilepsy. The lab has successfully established methods of recording high-sampling EEG data from children, and analytic pipelines for potential biomarkers including high-frequency oscillations (HFOs), cross-frequency coupling, and network analysis. Dr. Nariai has an excellent track record of productive research mentorship for graduate students, research/medical fellows, and post-doctoral fellows over the last several years.
