Epilepsy Fellowship

The Epilepsy Fellowship at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, provides advanced training in epilepsy and electroencephalography (EEG). This one-year fellowship is designed for those who wish to acquire advanced knowledge and skills in the comprehensive management of people with epilepsy and related disorders.

During the Epilepsy Fellowship, you become proficient in:

  • Interpreting EEGs and prolonged video EEG recordings in people with epilepsy
  • Managing patients in an epilepsy clinic
  • Performing surgical and pre-surgical intracranial electrode recordings
  • Conducting clinical research
  • Teaching residents and fellows

The fellowship includes extensive experience in adult and pediatric epilepsy. The amount of time spent in pediatric and adult activities is adjusted depending on the fellow's individual goals and neurology training background.

Prerequisites:

To be eligible for the Epilepsy Fellowship, you must be enrolled in or have completed an accredited adult or child neurology residency in the United States or Canada.

You must have completed steps 1, 2, and 3 of the United States Medical Licensing Examination or parts 1 and 2 of the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC).

How To Apply:

Mayo's academic year begins on July 1 every year. You must submit a completed application form and all required documentation no later than Oct. 1 (approximately 18 months before the program year you are applying for begins).

Complete the following steps to apply:

  1. Create an account to begin the online Application for Admission
  2. All applications to Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education programs must include these application materials
  3. After submission, view the required Supplemental Items and Documents
  • Upload each required item in the Supplemental Items section (if applicable)
  • Complete the Recommendation Request section (if applicable)

Applicants considered for an appointment will be invited for a personal interview with the program director and selected faculty.

Interviews are conducted during the month of November each year. With COVID-19 precautions, interviews are virtual at this time.
