A stroke fellowship is an essential part of training for neurologists interested in gaining expertise in the diagnosis and management of complex problems involving the cerebrovascular system. The stroke service at Lahey provides extensive clinical training in stroke and exposure to neurointerventional techniques. The clinical training for the stroke fellowship is 12 months.
The fellow participates in the management of patients with strokes seen in the clinic and in the hospital. The fellow also learns to perform and read transcranial ultrasound. The training offers opportunities to interact with multiple services providing care to patients with cerebrovascular disease, including a very active group of vascular surgeons, neurointerventionalists, cardiologists and neurosurgeons.
