Structural/Congenital Heart Disease Fellowship

Structural/Congenital Heart Disease Fellowship

The Structural/Congenital Heart Disease Fellowship is an intensive one-year program designed to provide training to address the unmet, and very complex, needs of congenital and structural heart disease. We offer the full spectrum of congenital and structural heart disease interventions, or SHD, and have acquired national and international attention as a leader in SHD therapies. Fellows will acquire the cognitive and technical skillset necessary to continue on to a career in congenital and structural heart disease interventions.

In addition to clinical work, fellows are actively involved in meaningful CHD/SHD research and furthering the field of congenital and structural heart disease in order to foster lifelong learning and critical thinking skills. Rush currently has several enrolling clinical trials within the SHD field, as well as established relationships with the various departments that participate in the treatment of these patients and advancements of this field, including departments of pediatrics, cardiac anesthesia, adult interventional and non-invasive cardiology, and cardiac surgery.

Rush University Medical Center is one of the largest hospitals in Chicago and one of the busiest tertiary and quaternary referral centers in the Midwest. You’ll be exposed to the entire spectrum of acute and chronic structural heart disease, working in clinics at Rush, Rush Oak Park Hospital, and the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
