The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill offers a one-year non-ACGME-accredited advanced fellowship training program in structural heart disease under the supervision of Program Director John P. Vavalle, MD, MHS, FACC. This program will accept one trainee per year and is designed to be completed following training in interventional cardiology.
The goal of this fellowship is to train fully independent operators in all facets of structural heart disease. This will include all procedural aspects of catheter-based non-coronary cardiac interventions to treat congenital or acquired cardiac defects. Training during this fellowship will also provide the knowledge needed for appropriate patient selection, procedural planning, and post-procedural management.
For more information about the program, kindly visit https://www.med.unc.edu/medici...
Applicants who have completed training in cardiac surgery will also be considered.
To apply for the fellowship, please send a cover letter and your CV. Please be sure to indicate which academic year you are applying for. A select number of applicants will be asked to come to Chapel Hill for an interview.
If interested in applying for the UNC Structural Heart Disease Fellowship, or if you have questions, please email John Vavalle directly.
