The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine offers a one-year Breast Pathology Fellowship under the direction of Syed Hoda, MD. The fellowship training focuses on the characterization of mammary neoplasms and non-neoplastic diseases of the breast. It emphasizes a multidisciplinary team approach to patient management as well as clinicopathologic and translational research. A wealth of interesting and challenging cases through the long-standing Breast Pathology Consultation Service, founded by Paul Peter Rosen, MD, is available for study. The Breast Pathology Consultation Service processes more than 2,000 cases nationally and internationally each year.
The fellow also participates in the in-house breast pathology service, which provides additional exposure to more commonly seen malignant and benign mammary diseases and processes over 6,300 breast specimens annually. The collective abundance of breast pathology material, both in terms of volume and diversity, is a unique feature of this Breast Pathology Fellowship.
