Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry Fellowship

Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry Fellowship

The Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry Fellowship at Barrow Neurological Institute is a UCNS certified one year clinical fellowship aimed at studying the brain-behavioral relationships and the cognitive and behavioral manifestations of neurological illnesses. The fellowship is open to graduates of ACGME or RCPSC certified residencies in neurology or psychiatry. The goal of the program is to train fellows in:

  • Diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative disorders primarily affecting cognition and behaviors including Alzheimer’s disease, MCI, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementias, Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Disease
  • Diagnosis and treatment of cognitive and behavioral manifestations in other neurological disorders such as TBI, epilepsy and multiple sclerosis
  • Learn the principles of neuro-rehabilitation of cognitive disorders
  • Participate in research training in cognitive and behavioral disorders under the guidance of faculty

We have a multidisciplinary approach that includes clinics with both behavioral neurologists and neuropsychiatrists, as well as neuropsychologists, social workers and rehabilitation specialists. The fellow will have the opportunity to participate in the Arizona Alzheimer Consortium with monthly consensus conferences, quarterly neuropathological conferences and annual research conferences.
