Surgical Simulation Fellowship

We are now accepting applications for our established Fellowship in Medical/Surgical Simulation. The fellowship will develop individuals to become leaders in simulation-based healthcare education and provide opportunities for research in the field of simulation-based education. The fellowship has been accredited by the American College of Surgeons and is fully funded and supported by Medical Education at OhioHealth.

The Fellowship in Simulation is offered as a one- or two-year fellowship. During this time, the fellow will be involved in advanced adult learning theory; curriculum development for multiple medical specialties and residency programs; learners and program evaluation and assessment; operational/leadership issues related to simulation centers; research resulting in presentations and publications at national and international conferences; personal leadership and skill development; and simulated scenario development and implementation. An advanced educational degree program may be available to those candidates who wish to pursue this opportunity.

Prerequisites:

The optimal candidate will have at least two years of experience in a surgical specialty (such as anesthesia and OB/GYN), but applications will be accepted from physicians outside of surgical specialties, as well as from those individuals pursuing advanced education degrees. Those with interrupted training tracts or careers will be considered.

For those wishing to pursue clinical opportunities, a combined fellowship/work schedule may be possible. An advanced educational degree program may be available to those candidates who wish to pursue this opportunity.
