Emergency Medicine Fellowship

The Huntsville Hospital Emergency Department offers a one-year unaccredited Fellowship in Emergency Medicine to provide advanced training and experience for the family physician who desires a broader base of knowledge, experience, and skills than in this area.

The acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitudes should occur longitudinally under the supervision of full-time EM physicians and/or their designees during all curricular elements which include:

• Advanced Procedures Laboratory
• ED HH ( Main & Madison )
• ED HH Pediatrics
• Trauma/ICU
• Ultrasound
• Anesthesia
• EMS
• Cardiology
• Elective

Prerequisites:

• Applicants must be graduates of accredited family practice residency programs (Allopathic or Osteopathic).
• Applicants must be board certified or board eligible in Family Practice.
• Applicants will be required to obtain medical licensure in the state of Alabama and a Federal DEA certificate prior to the beginning of the fellowship.
• Applicants are required to submit
  • USMLE scores
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Personal statement
  • Three letters of recommendation from active members of the American Academy of Family Physicians, including the residency program director and the faculty members/preceptors in their training program.
