Research Fellowship

Research Fellowship

The Cardiovascular Outcomes Research Laboratories at UCLA welcomes applications from highly motivated individuals interested in learning and conducting research in the fields of surgery and cardiovascular medicine. We aim to help foster future physician-scientists who are committed to academics. One open position is available for July 2022.

We are a large research team that has ongoing projects encompassing all aspects of surgery and interventional specialties from cardiac surgery to interventional cardiology and trauma. We have rich collaborations with specialists ranging from cardiology, gastrointestinal disease, transplantation, critical care, and pediatrics. The laboratory has other projects including device development, medical simulation and cardiovascular diagnostics. We have state-of-art facilities for health services research with workstations and server access. For those interested in translational work, the lab is involved in several NIH funded studies in large animal and rodent models of atherosclerosis and ECMO.

UCLA welcomes highly motivated and hardworking individuals who would like to dedicate their research time to advancing clinical care. Time commitment should be at least 12 and as long as 36 months. The scope of the planned research is individually discussed while most lab graduates have several impactful publications and national presentations with an excellent track record. The research team works closely and meets regularly with the Principal Investigators. Trainees eligible for a California Medical License may also be incorporated into the mobile ECMO team and support this endeavor. UCLA is committed to being an equal opportunity employer and strives to provide an inclusive and diverse environment. However, we cannot support scholars requiring work visas at this time.
