Colorectal Surgery Fellowship

The Ochsner Department of Colorectal Surgery is seeking surgery residents interested in Colorectal Surgery for a fully funded research position.

The goal of the program is to provide a comprehensive clinical and translational research experience for motivated applicants who plan to pursue a career in Colon & Rectal Surgery. Training in epidemiology and statistical methods will be included. There will be opportunities to participate in clinical trials, translational cancer research, quality improvement projects, and health services research. Studies will be presented at regional and national meetings. The research fellow will also participate in some clinical activities, educational conferences, journal clubs, and share call with the 2 clinical fellows and chief resident. Ochsner Medical Center is located in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is the busiest center for Colon & Rectal surgery in the gulf south. We are academically affiliated with the University of Queensland. Our department is made up of seven full-time surgeons who are dedicated to education, with a history of mentorship in research. We also have dedicated statistical support and 2 full-time Research Coordinators.

Prerequisites:

We are seeking candidates who will have completed a minimum of three (3) years of training in an ACGME-accredited general surgery residency. We will consider applicants for either one (1) or two (2) year positions.
