Abdominal and Body Radiology MRI Fellowship

Abdominal and Body Radiology MRI Fellowship

The Mayo Clinic in Arizona Department of Radiology has an unfilled slot in Abdominal and Body Radiology MRI fellowship for the 2023-24 academic year, which is a one-year, non-Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited program. This fellowship opportunity is the second of 2 advanced abdominal and body radiology fellowship positions; the first has been filled.

As a fellow, you will work closely with abdominal radiology experts, to gain the appropriate skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in private or academic clinical practices with special emphasis on diseases of the gastrointestinal and genitourinary systems. Fellows spend a large portion of their time on MRI and have comprehensive exposure to MRI that cannot be mastered in radiology residency training. Mayo offers cutting edge, state-of-the-art MR for abdominal and pelvic MRI studies at Mayo Clinic's campus in Arizona. Fellows will gain experience with 3.0T and 1.5T MRI scanners and PET/MRI integrated with a 3.0T MRI. Fellow’s clinical time includes training in the following: Hepatobiliary and pancreatic comprehensive MRI, pre and post liver transplant MRI evaluation, GI tract MRI, gynecologic MRI, genitourinary MRI, and abdominal MR angiography.

Fellows can rotate through the clinical services including abdominal CT, ultrasound and fluoroscopy as well as cardiothoracic imaging, and prospective fellows are encouraged to discuss this with the program director. Fellows in the past have used this opportunity to gain more confidence in a specific area of weakness or to sharpen skills needed for a future job opportunity.

During the fellowship, fellows participate in several recurring multidisciplinary conferences that afford close cooperative interaction with outstanding medical, surgical and pathology colleagues. These include hepatobiliary, colorectal, pancreatic, GU and GYN tumor boards as well as endometriosis and enteric conferences.
