General Surgery Residency-Categorical Position

The General Surgery Residency Training Program at Lankenau Medical Center just outside of Philadelphia prides itself as being a “hybrid” program for general surgery training, which includes the best aspects of a superb “community” hospital—Lankenau is ranked in the top one percent of hospitals in the nation—and the best characteristics of an “academic” center—skilled, rigorous, evidence-based clinical teaching by the busiest and best clinicians.

The Surgical Residency at Lankenau Medical Center offers the complete spectrum of general surgery training, including the most advanced and updated techniques in minimally invasive and endovascular surgery. Each of the surgical specialty divisions provides ample clinical material and its program faculty is actively engaged in the teaching process.

Prerequisites:

To be eligible for a PGY3 position applicants must have completed PGY1& PGY 2 year in an ACGME-accredited program and be in good standing in his/her current program. As well as completed USMLE Step 3 the state of Pennsylvania requires USLME Step 3 to move to a PGY 3 year.

• Verification of completion of PGY1 & PGY2,
• Rotations completed in PGY1 & PGY 2 years.
• Defined Category Report with at least 250 cases and Critical Care Index Report.
• Milestones Reports,
• ABSITE transcripts,
• USMLE/COMLEX Step 1, 2 and 3.
• Medical School transcript and Diploma,
• MSPE,
• 3 letters of recommendation (one must be from current/most recent program director)
