General Surgery Residency-Preliminary Position

The General Surgery Residency training program has an open PGY-1 preliminary position open for the up coming academic year. The position is affiliated with the Department of Surgery at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Lubbock, Texas.

We have 5 residents per year in categorical positions. The affiliated sponsoring institution is University Medical Center Lubbock, Texas. It is a level 1 trauma center and is also a very busy burn center. The intern year consist of 13 four week blocks with exposure to trauma, burn, critical care, general surgery, endoscopy, MIS, urology, breast, and colorectal. A preliminary intern completes all the same rotations as the categorical interns and are consider on equal par with the categorical interns with regards to education and operative experience. It is understood that this could be a delayed start and willing to work with applicants regarding training times in accordance with institutional and ACGME policies.
