Neuropathology Fellowship

We are committed to academic excellence in clinical service, research, and education. We supplement our robust clinical neuropathology services by internationally recognized programs in brain banking and a rich network of neuroscience research.

Our program includes the annual examination of more than 1,200 surgical neuropathology specimens, close to 200 neuroautopsy specimens, and active neuropathology research opportunities. The program includes specialty rotations at the Mount Sinai Neuromuscular Lab, the Department of Ophthalmology for ophthalmic pathology, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in New York, and Mount Sinai’s Alzheimer Disease Research Center (ADRC) and Manhattan HIV Brain Bank (MHBB).

Prerequisites:

We accept 1-2 fellows each year, giving preference to those board-eligible in anatomic/clinical pathology who have completed two to three years of anatomic pathology training. For a four-year combined anatomic pathology/neuropathology track, we are looking for applicants who are graduating from medical school.

The neuropathology fellowship is offered for a full two-year commitment with strong focus on clinical training during year one and protected research time during year two.
