Pediatric Pathology Fellowship

Pediatric Pathology Fellowship

Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) and GW offer a one-year, ACGME-accredited fellowship in pediatric pathology. Training is based at CNMC and is designed to expose the fellow to all aspects of pediatric and perinatal pathology. The department accessions surgical specimens from all organ systems including the placenta, evaluates cytology cases and performs/interprets fine needle aspirations, and receives both perinatal and pediatric autopsies. Areas of staff expertise include tumor pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, placental pathology, neuropathology, and muscle biopsy.

The fellow will spend the majority of the year examining surgical pathology, cytology, and autopsy cases. Training in all areas of clinical pathology is available, with particular strength in hematopathology. Specific time dedicated to research or to elective rotations may also be arranged. Fellows also participate in many intra- and interdepartmental conferences and teaching activities.
