General Surgery Residency

Gundersen Medical Foundation in La Crosse, WI is seeking to fill a PGY-2 categorical general surgery resident to begin on June 26, 2022 as part of our complement expansion.

Gundersen is a well established independent program with 4 categorical residents per year. Our goal is to train residents who are confident and competent after 5 years of residency with full support to transition them to the next phase of their career being fellowship or clinical practice. Strengths of our program include high operative volumes, a chief residency service, research opportunities, elective options to include national and international service to underserved populations and a department of surgery committed to education.

Prerequisites:

Applicants must have completed at least one year (one year as a PGY 1 preliminary or categorical general surgery resident) of surgical training by June, 2022.

4. Case log (Defined Category Report & 250 Minimum Case Report)
5. Three letters of recommendation – one of which must be from current Program Director
6. Medical school diploma & Medical school transcript
7. USMLE/COMLEX Transcript (first time pass on exams is required)
8. A personal statement
9. ECFMG certificate (if applicable).
