The Surgical Critical Care Program (non-ACGME accredited) at Boston VA Healthcare System affiliated with the Boston Medical Center is recruiting for an ICU intern for the 2021-2022 academic year with the possibility of extending to 2022-2023.
Starting date is from mid March to July 1st. The VA Boston Medical Center is a tertiary center with 12 surgical ICU beds and 12 Progressive Care Unit (PCU) beds. We take care of veterans with a high degree of complexity and acuity. As an intern in our training program, you will be exposed to a wide variety of pathologies including but not limited to general surgery, vascular, thoracic, neurosurgery, etc. We are committed to training the best and most talented young physicians and to prepare them for a residency program. Program goals include learning the basics and advanced techniques in managing complex patients under full supervision of our team of intensivists and surgeons.
We are a NON-ACGME accredited program. Each of our 5 surgical critical care faculty is board-certified in both Anesthesiology and Surgical Critical Care and has years of experience in teaching and training medical students, house staff, and fellows. You will be working closely with our team of surgeons who are co-managing the patients in the ICU. Our surgeons are affiliated with the Boston Medical Center/Boston School of Medicine and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. For the interested candidates, there are also opportunities to build upon surgical knowledge and skills through elective surgery rotations. Residents in our program can also engage in a variety of Surgical and Critical Care research projects.
