Neuro-Oncology Fellowship

Neuro-Oncology Fellowship

Our Neuro-Oncology fellowship offers active participation by fellows in a program that focuses on clinical patient care for primary brain and metastatic brain tumors, as well as the effects of cancer treatments and research. We offer a one- or two-year fellowship in neuro-oncology.

Fellows are directly involved in the management of brain tumor patients in the outpatient clinic at the UAB Kirklin clinic where an average of 10 new patients ( to our practice) and about 60-70 follow-up Brain Tumor patients are seen every week. Fellow will also supervise the inpatient care of Brain Tumor patients admitted to the University of Alabama Hospital. Treatments for patients with malignant brain tumor consist of surgery, conventional chemotherapy and/or radiation. The other line of treatment is experimental treatment with new agents designed to destroy the tumors that cannot be removed by surgery and radiation therapy and to improve the progression free and overall survival and quality of life for the patients.
