Foot and Ankle Fellowship

University of Pennsylvania Health System has an available post-match vacancy for their Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeons Fellowship program to start in July 2021.

The Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeons Fellowship is located at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and takes place primarily at Pennsylvania Hospital. Our office is located at 230 West Washington Square, 5th Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

This fellowship program has been in place since 1992 and runs from August 1 to July 31. We accept 2 fellows per year. We participate in the AOFAS application system and the San Francisco Match.

We provide a core textbook to each fellow, Surgery of the Foot and Ankle by Coughlin, Mann and Saltzman, 8^th ed., which they are required to read. We review this book chapter by chapter via fellow led presentations at our Wednesday morning conference that include rotating residents and the University of Pennsylvania Residents rotating at Pennsylvania Hospital. At the end of the year the fellows combine their presentations so they each have a complete set of talks. There are also regular indications conference and journal clubs.

Fellows are required to complete their rotations having shown clinical competence in the office based, hospital based and surgical management of patients based on the evaluation of the attending physicians. Fellows are also required to produce at least one research project of publishable quality. They may also have opportunities to author book chapters, review articles and participate in other research projects both interdisciplinary and at Penn's well respected musculoskeletal laboratory with Dr. Lou Soslowsky.

Prerequisites:

All applicants must be board certified or board eligible and have completed an orthopaedic residency program in good standing.
