Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship

University of Alabama at Birmingham has an available post-match vacancy for Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship program to start in July 2021.

The mission of the obstetric anesthesia fellowship is to provide the training and resources needed for the fellow to excel in the areas of patient care, quality improvement, and research as it relates to obstetric anesthesiology.

Obstetric anesthesiology is the subspecialty of anesthesiology devoted to the comprehensive anesthetic management of women during pregnancy and the puerperium. The Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) approved the Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship in 2011, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) has received its full OB Anesthesiology Fellowship accreditation starting in 2014. UAB is a comprehensive university and medical center that encompasses 82 city blocks and has over 17,000 students. It is home to a large graduate school, a world-renowned health-care complex, and more than 70 research centers. We are one of the original eight National Institute of Child Health and Development (NICHD) research sites in the country involved in research initiatives for maternal, child and family health.
