Body MRI Fellowship

Body MRI Fellowship

Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai offers four one-year Body MRI fellowship positions annually. We routinely perform more than 29,000 ultrasounds, 36,000 computerized tomography (CT) scans, and 10,000 magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies each year, so you have plenty of opportunities to learn and contribute. Our program is not approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

As a fellow, you rotate in body magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), body computed tomography (CT), cardiac MRI, abdominal/pelvic ultrasound, and non-invasive vascular imaging, with some flexibility. You also have a month of elective time.

We train you in all aspects of body MRI, including hepatobiliary, pancreatic, genitourinary, prostate, gastrointestinal, chest and whole body MRI. While we emphasize MRI, you also learn chest, abdominal, and pelvic computed tomography as well as CT- and ultrasound-guided biopsy.

You learn through both formal didactics as well as resident education. We also expect that you will participate in monthly journal clubs and weekly case conferences in radiology as well as in clinical conferences with liver surgical oncology, pathology, liver transplant, hepatology, urology, gastroenterology, and oncology. As a fellow, you will oversee daily MRI protocols and supervise and pre-dictate all cases.

There are many research opportunities and we strongly encourage you to become involved with both translational and clinical research. We anticipate that you will participate in at least one retrospective or prospective research study that is presented at the to be presented at the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, Society of Gastrointestinal Radiology/Society of Uroradiology, or Radiological Society of North America meetings.
