Pediatric Orthopedics Fellowship

Pediatric Orthopedics Fellowship

Nemours Children's Specialty Care, Jacksonville provides a freestanding one-year fellowship training program in pediatric orthopedics in collaboration with our adjoining affiliate Wolfson Children's Hospital.

You’ll begin your year exposed to the individual perspectives and areas of concentration of all attending physicians on our faculty. Our surgeons treat the full spectrum of pediatric orthopedic disease, including spinal deformity, trauma, sports medicine, limb deformity, spina bifida, cerebral palsy and congenital conditions. Following this broad exposure, you’ll be able to focus on the area(s) that interest you most.

You’ll also participate directly in resident education. Each participant typically will be on call five to six nights per month, and will have responsibility for managing residents while on call. In addition, you’ll work closely with all attending physicians in their elective clinics and the operating room.

Your training is provided through a seamless, time-tested affiliation between Nemours Children's Specialty Care, Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Our strong weekly academic schedule helps educate residents from the local University of Florida program, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and the combined U.S. Army/Navy program in Bethesda, Md.

Wolfson is the only tertiary referral children’s hospital in the Northeast Florida and Southern Georgia region. The 250-bed facility has 12 operating rooms, with approximately two to three per day dedicated to orthopedics. Wolfson’s Emergency Department is staffed entirely by fellowship-trained pediatric emergency medicine physicians. The trauma center is Level 3, and we typically see isolated orthopedic trauma.
