Advanced Hospital Medicine Fellowship

Swedish Medical Center is accepting applications for their Advanced Hospital Medicine Fellowship program.

The fellowship is a year long, divided into 13 blocks of 4 weeks. Fellows alternate between on-service blocks working as a general hospitalist at various hospitals in the system, and off-service blocks, during which required and elective rotations are available. Occasional, supervised night work is required to offer exposure to the nocturnist experience and skill set. Supervision is one-on-one, with supervisors rotating weekly, and overall supervision provided by the fellowship director. Formal procedure training for fundamental hospitalist skills will be provided early in the fellowship, and additional skills will be added through the year. After acquiring competence in various skills, fellows also participate in running a procedure service.

Prerequisites:

Applicants must be:

• A third-year resident in an accredited Family Medicine residency, or
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine
• Mid-career physicians looking for additional skills or a career change are welcome to apply.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in Washington State
• We cannot support J-1 visas

We accept applications, arrange interviews, and offer positions on a rolling basis. We prefer that fellows start in late July, but will consider alternative start dates in special circumstances.

  • If you are more than two years out of residency, a letter from a senior colleague or supervising physician/medical director may be substituted for the program director letter if desired.
• Personal Statement outlining your inpatient experience to date, and why you want to pursue this training.
