The Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine Fellowship is an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education–accredited program that provides comprehensive training in all aspects of transfusion medicine, including blood donor collection, immunohematology, transfusion practices, therapeutic apheresis, tissue banking and stem cell processing.
The mission of the fellowship is to provide outstanding education in all aspects of blood banking/transfusion medicine. The program prepares fellows for a career in either a hospital transfusion service or blood center setting, to successfully pass the American Board of Pathology blood banking/transfusion medicine subspecialty exam and to become effective educators. The program provides ample resources including a generous annual educational stipend and support for clinical and translational research.

Applicants must be board-eligible in clinical pathology, combined anatomic pathology or internal medicine, as appropriate, and licensed to practice medicine in California by the time their fellowship begins. Find more information at California Medical License Information.

Applications will be accepted through September 30th for fellowships starting two summers later. Please note that we have a rolling admission policy, therefore, we strongly encourage interested candidates to apply as early as possible.
