Gynecologic and Perinatal Pathology Fellowship

Gynecologic and Perinatal Pathology Fellowship

The fellowship for academic year 2021-2022 has been filled, now accepting for 2022-2023.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine offers a one-year Gynecologic and Perinatal Pathology Fellowship. The fellowship combines diagnostic training and research opportunities related to the pathology of female genital tract disease and reproduction. Weill Cornell accessions approximately 8,000 gynecologic/perinatal specimens per year, which are handled separately through the Divisions of Gynecologic and Perinatal Pathology.

Clinical responsibilities include sign-out of both frozen sections and surgical pathology specimens. In addition, clinical opportunities are also available in gynecologic cytopathology. The fellow is expected to participate in the teaching and supervision of residents, as well as to actively participate in departmental and intradepartmental conferences. Research opportunities include clinicopathologic and molecular pathology studies with members of the department. A departmentally funded Translational Research Core Facility offers a wide array of research services, including histology, immunohistochemistry, tissue array, cytogenetics, and molecular techniques, thus providing the opportunity to conduct clinically relevant and scientifically sophisticated studies.
