The Pediatric Dermatology Fellowship at the New York University School of Medicine is a one-year program that has been approved by the American Board of Dermatology. Fellowship training includes participation in medical and surgical outpatient care in a variety of settings ranging from municipal hospital clinics to faculty practice offices, consultation activities (emergency department, newborn nursery, NICU, PICU, pediatric floor), and inpatient pediatric dermatology admissions at NYU/Tisch and Bellevue Hospitals. Fellows also take part in clinics and multidisciplinary conferences dedicated to genetic skin disorders, congenital melanocytic nevi, and vascular anomalies. Through these experiences, fellows become experts in the diagnosis and management of the full spectrum of pediatric skin disease, from the rarest genodermatoses to the most severe cases of atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. They become comfortable with general medical, developmental, and psychosocial as well as dermatologic issues affecting neonates, adolescents, and all ages in between. In addition, fellows have time devoted to mentored clinical research projects and opportunities to teach dermatology and pediatric residents in a variety of venues.
