The University of Miami/Jackson Health System Pediatric Pathology Fellowship Program, offered through Holtz Children’s Hospital, offers a one or two-year, ACGME-approved training program in pediatric and perinatal pathology, qualifying the applicant for the American Board of Pathology – Pediatric Pathology (the additional second year can be negotiated with program application and tailored according to the applicants interests; however, only one year of fellowship is required for board eligibility).
The section of Pediatric and Perinatal Pathology provides a rich mix of cases including extensive exposure to prenatal specimens (autopsies, fetopsies, placentas and products of conception); clinical pathology; cytology; diagnostic surgical specimens and neuropathology, providing the candidate with good exposure to common congenital malformations of the central nervous system. In addition, there is a rich curriculum of combined conferences and tumor boards with other pediatric services.
