Advanced Thoracic Surgery Fellowship

The fellowship will provide training on all aspects of thoracic surgery procedures including thoracic oncology and lung transplantation as well as advanced surgical support for acute and chronic lung failure. This includes training in advanced cardiorespiratory support including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).

In the Division of Thoracic Surgery at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago, we utilize the entire gamut of minimally invasive techniques, including advanced robotics and thoracoscopy, as well as conventional surgical approaches for the treatment of thoracic diseases and the fellow will be expected to participate in them. There are optional research opportunities built into the training, if the candidate desires to pursue them.

Prerequisites:

This fellowship is available to individuals who have successfully completed an ACGME accredited Thoracic Surgery program or equivalent and are eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois.
