Addiction Medicine Fellowship

Consistent with the mission of Howard University to focus on the education and training of underrepresented minority or disadvantaged students and trainees, the mission of the Howard University Addiction Medicine Fellowship Training Program is to train physicians

  1. to provide expert clinical care for patients with a broad range of substance use disorders,
  2. to teach and train medical students, residents, and other health professionals about substance use disorders,
  3. to advance scientific knowledge and expertise about prevention, early identification, intervention and treatment for substance use disorders, and
  4. to become leaders in the field of Addiction Medicine.

1. Graduated or be in the final year of an ACGME accredited clinical residency program; and

2. A permanent medical license valid in the District of Columbia or be eligible for one

Preference Criteria:

1. Demonstrated interest in Addiction Medicine particularly working in medically underserved communities;

2. Research experience; and

3. Community service
