Acute Care Surgery-Trauma Fellowship

Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital, is currently accepting applications for its 2023-2024 Acute Care Surgery (ACS) Fellowship. This is a 1-year program at a premier academic trauma center, verified by the American College of Surgeons in the city of Atlanta.

This fellowship will provide a robust clinical experience in trauma and emergency general surgery. At this time, the fellow will work closely with 15 full-time ACS faculty, additional ACS fellows, APPs and surgical residents from both Emory and Morehouse Schools of Medicine.

The ACS service at Grady Memorial Hospital performs a broad spectrum of surgical procedures including trauma, emergency general surgery, and outpatient elective general surgery. Focused clinical experiences during the academic year will also include elective rotations in vascular, orthopedics, PM&R and thoracic surgery. Opportunities in ACS research are available and encouraged. The ideal candidate for this fellowship desires a career in trauma and emergency general surgery. Upon completion of this training program, the candidate will be prepared to join and provide comprehensive trauma care in a major trauma center.

Prerequisites:

  • Previous completion of ATLS and general surgery residency is required.
  • Candidates are required to also have completed a surgical critical fellowship prior to start date (August 1, 2023) to be considered for this position.
  • Candidate must obtain a Georgia State medical license and have an active DEA.
